Overview

One of our leading and most popular Volunteering and mission trip to Uganda, this trip combines teaching at a secondary or primary school and painting classrooms or working with the local church in on different ministry and enjoying a wild life safari at the end. Whatever, your skill, this package will be tailored to suit your interest and time.

Best time: This trip is available throughout the year and suitable for small – medium group.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, Sandfieldtravel team member will meet you. Arrival on a morning or early afternoon flight will be best. You will be able to exchange money and settle in at your accommodation.  Dinner will be at your accommodation,.  Rest and settle in.

Day 2: Orientation /Introductions

Depending on the team and if they have been to Uganda before, Day2 is an orientation day, where everyone will be introduced to the local team, church, school, medical clinic team etc. and generally getting acclimatized                 

Day 3 – 10: Teaching at Ebenezer Secondary School and class room Classroom painting

After breakfast, you will be taken and introduced to the staff and given a guided tour. After this initial introduction, you will then have the opportunity to become involved straight away.  You will begin work on the building project.  While working, you will also have time to connect with the kids. You will take a packed lunch.  Return to your hotel for dinner.

 

The teaching aspect will depend on your level of experience and confidence. You will you be working with a local teacher to prepare your lessons also, you may first sit in similar lessons or subjects to see the simililaties and differences in delivery.

Day 11 – 13: Spent on a three day Safari

(this also varies from group to group) but this also 100% tailor-made the days can be moved around to suit the entire group’s interests and time.

Day 11: Murchison Falls National Park

You will leave Kampala, head to Murchison Falls National Park in the northwestern part of Uganda. On your way, you will see people doing their day to day activities that help them earn a living. With lunch en route, you will arrive in early evening and then have a short tester game drive. Check-in at your accommodation for dinner and overnight at Red Chili.

Day 12: Game drive       

We do an early morning game drive, a good time to see the predators. Other animals to see in this park are warthog, hyena, giraffe, elephant, kob and many more.  This game drive will last a minimum of 4 hours; you can choose whether to have your breakfast packed before you leave for the game drive or have it when you come back from the game drive.  Be back to accommodation in time to freshen up and have lunch. You will then go for the boat launch at exactly 2:00 pm; it starts at Paraa Lodge and ends at the foot of Murchison falls, lasting 3 hours. This boat trip will enable you to see Hippos, crocodiles and a lot of bird life.  Dinner at your accommodation.  

Day 13: Back to Kampala

This day, you will have a relaxed breakfast as you go back home. You will go to the top of the falls on your way out of the park. You then will have your lunch on the way back, and return to Kampala in the evening.    

Day 14Departure

Today, you will go for shopping, pack and say your goodbyes (depending on flights). You will head off to Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home.  An afternoon or evening flight will be best.

The cost for a group of two is from £1400 per person – Cost is based on per person sharing a  room.

  • Meals on arrival/departure dates not known at this time, depending on your flight times. (You pay for your own lunches these days)
  • Service charge fees (differ depending on if you use PayPal or make a wire transfer)

NOTES: This is a tailor-made itinerary, we can move things around to suit your interest and timing. We can increase the or decrease the volunteering time as you wish.
