Uganda mission trip and wildlife safari
Overview
Uganda is home to some of the most fascinating wildlife on Earth, but to get a real understanding of the country you really get to know the people. Our “volunteersafaris” combine some of the best wildlife encounters the country has to offer with the chance to interact with local communities in a safe, responsible way that will make a positive and potentially life-changing impact on both you and the people you are visiting. This example itinerary explains the involvement you could have with one of the orphanages we work with, but we also work on projects like medical centres and and community groups across the country.
Day 1
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport where you will be greeted by one of the friendly Sandfield Travel team, who will take you to your accommodation and give you chance to settle in.
Day 2
After breakfast you will be taken on a tour to familiarise yourself with the town where you will be based. You’ll see the markets and go to the orphanages and schools to be introduced to the pupils.
Day 3
You will be introduced to the staff at the orphanage and given a guided tour, and you will then have the opportunity to become involved and get to know the children straight away.
Day 4 - 10
A few days to really get to know the community in Uganda and help on various projects. You will be have the opportunity to teach and play with the children, work with the amazing team at the health clinic and you will have the option to join the community for their regular church services. You can eat lunch and dinner with the friends you will meet, and of course let people back home know everything you’re up to by going online.
Day 11
Today will be your last day in Mityana. After breakfast you will head back to the project to say goodbye to the friends you have made there, before being driven back to your hotel in evening for dinner.
Day 12
Head to the incredible Murchison Falls National Park in the North Western part of Uganda. On your way through the beautiful scenery you will see people doing their day-today activities that help them earn a living. You will arrive in the early afternoon ready for a short game drive, before heading to your accommodation for dinner.
Day 13
The day starts with an early morning game drive, which is the perfect time to see the predators, plus other animals like warthog, hyena, giraffe, elephant, Uganda Kob and many more. After heading back to the accommodation to freshen up and have lunch you will go for a boat trip from Paraa to the foot of Murchison Falls. You will see Hippos, crocodiles and some of the most amazing birdlife on Earth.
Day 14
After breakfast you will see the incredible views from the top of the magnificent Murchison Falls. You will stop lunch in Masindi before heading back to Kampala.
